SA: Governments must agree on tort reforms, says ICA
The Insurance Council of Australia says insurers will only be able to improve the affordabilityof liability cover if federal and state governments agree on nationally consistent tortreforms.
Government ministers will meet in Adelaide tomorrow to discuss the progress of reforms.
Insurance Council executive director ALAN MASON says the industry is concerned thatstate governments are changing the laws in different ways, creating uncertainty for insurers.
He says the council will be urging ministers in Adelaide to refocus on the need for consistency.
