Fed: Private sector welcome proposal

The private childcare sector is welcoming Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD'S proposal to introduce
universal childcare.

Mr RUDD has said the private sector can play a key role in one-stop shop childcare
for children up to five years old.

Community childcare groups have slammed the proposal saying commercialising the sector
doesn't work.

But Childcare Associations Australia says the plan encourages and supports key stakeholders
to work together in the interest of young children.

The proposal will be discussed at the 2020 Summit in Canberra this weekend.
